Steven James Oliver, 57, of Geneseo, formerly of Woodbine, Iowa, died Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Good Samaritan Village, in Geneseo. Cremation rites have ben accorded and a memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10 at Concordia Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Woodbine Cemetery, in Woodbine, Iowa. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Steve James Oliver Memorial Fund.
Steven was born on March 4, 1962, in Omaha, Neb., the son of James Irvin and Anna Gayle (Viner) Oliver. Steven married Rebecca Schatz, and they later divorced. Steven then married Audra Shoemaker on Sept. 26, 2008, in Davenport, Iowa.
He graduated from Mondamin High School and the University of Iowa in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in business management. Steven retired from Alcoa in 2013 after 28 years and later worked at Steffanini Inc. from January 2014 thru August 2017. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he was baptized along with his son, Ryan, on March 5, 2017. He was also a member of the 25 Year Retirement Club at Alcoa Inc. and a member of an Investment Club in Bettendorf.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Audra, of Geneseo; his son, Ryan, and his adopted daughter, Jordan (Shoemaker) Oliver, both of Geneseo; two brothers, Deron Oliver, of Sioux City, Iowa; and Kendall Oliver, of Bronson, Iowa; and his mother, Anna Gayle (Viner) Oliver, of Woodbine, Iowa. Steven was preceded in death by his father, James Irvin Oliver.
