November 21, 1919- 100 Years
The annual Thanksgiving play given by the students of the Collegiate Institute will take place next
Thursday, Nov. 25. Last year the play was omitted because of the “flu” which played havoc with G.C.I. in
A box social and program will be given at the McAvoy school Monday evening, Nov. 24 at 8 o’clock.
Ten cents admission will be charged. Ladies brining boxes free. Men who purchase boxes will have 10
cents deducted from price of box.
November 20, 1969- 50 Years
Esau’s pottage and mulled cider were followed by Cornish game hens with pate, hummis bi taheeni,
weinkraut, pettis pois a la crème and sour dough bread as the English V class met in the Congregational
church parlors Wednesday noon for a medieval dinner.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rahn of 100 South Spring street, were honored on their 25 th wedding
anniversary, Sunday, Nov. 16 in the Central bank room. Approximately 125 people attended.
Nov. 19, 1994-25 Years
Members of the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce board who will service three-year terms starting in
January are Brett Decker, Steve Durian, Roger Muselman, Jim VanOpDorp and Angela Himmelman.
Jack Schlindwein, principal at Northside Elementary school kissed a pig from John Nilsson’s farm. Mr.
Schlindwein had to kiss the pig once for each class which met its reading goal, which totaled 13 kisses.
Nov. 19, 2004 - 15 Years
The Geneseo business community hosted its annual Christmas Open House to kick off the holiday
season Sunday, Nov. 14. Santa greeted children, and horse drawn buggy rides added to the fun. Mayor
Merle LeSage lit the community Christmas tree with Dawn and Dave Tubbs.
Geneseo wrestling has started preparation for another successful season on the mats. The Leafs
started practice Nov. 8 under third-year Head Coach Jon Murray along with both returning state
qualifiers, senior Augie Anderson and junior Nic George.
