GALVA – The Play It Forward online concert program, which drew 30,000 viewers last weekend, is set for a second go this weekend.
The concert series is a response to the music industry’s plight under pandemic restrictions, as live music venues were among the first to close and will be among the last to reopen, placing musicians in dire financial positions.
Play It Forward is sponsored by Heartland Connections through non-profit support of the Galva Arts Council, and presenting sponsors Galesburg Community Foundation and the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation.
This aid program distributed $5,000 last weekend to 10 area musicians and will do so again this coming weekend. Musicians receiving a grant will also have a performance, professionally recorded without an audience, broadcast live over the internet.
For more information or would like to donate to the musicians can visit http://PlayItForward.rocks.
Concerts will be streamed live from the Heartland Connections Facebook page and YouTube channel. This weekend’s schedule for live stream concerts is included in the fact boxes accompanying this story.
