Judith "Judy" Lee Schehl
Judith "Judy" Lee Schehl, 84, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, at Hammond Henry Hospital - Long Term Care Living Center. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Deacon Art Ries will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Hammond Henry Hospital – Long Term Care Living Center and Cambridge Ambulance Service.
Judy was born December 16, 1937, the daughter of Samuel and Aline (Oliver) Parker, in Hamilton, IL. She graduated from Hamilton High School and attended a year of college at Western Illinois University in Macomb. In 1957, she married the love of her life, William "Bill" Schehl. Together they raised five children and had a very active life. Judy had a career as a reporter/photographer at Kewanee Star Courier and Davenport Quad Cities Times. She also volunteered as an EMT for Cambridge Ambulance Service. Judy enjoyed walking, swimming, her bridge clubs, gardening, golfing, and traveling the world. She lived two years in Buenos Aires, Argentina while her husband was a principal at the Asociación Escuelas Lincoln. Judy especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Bill; her children, Denise (Vince) Geiger, Columbia, MO, Kelly Evert, Columbia, MO, Tim (Kathy) Schehl, Olivette, MO, Doug (Sandy) Schehl, Silvis, IL, Chris (Cheryl) Schehl, Colona, IL; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Dan (Donna) Parker, Ludlow, VT.
She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Schehl; parents Samuel and Aline Parker; and her siblings and their spouses, Shirley and Andy Henninger, Kenneth and Sarah Parker, James and Donna Parker.
