Thomas R. Gray passed away quietly in his Geneseo home on December 13, 2022. A brief inurnment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 19, 2022, at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the Geneseo VFW – Don Cherry Post #5083. Tom was born December 17, 1931 in Spangler outside of Carrolltown , PA to Thomas D. Gray and Marie (Troexeller) Gray. He was blessed in marriage to Katherine Whitham in 1977. She preceded him in death in 2003. After graduating from High School in Carrollton on the 31st of May 1951, he and his best buddy enlisted in the Army on the second of June dreaming of becoming Airborne Rangers. After two hitches where he served as an administrative clerk with wicked fast and accurate typing, he left that branch of the service to join the Air Force where he was promised engineering training. Tom’s overseas service was in Occupied Germany at Bamberg, Occupied Japan at Kisaratzu, and finally at the Samsun base in Turkey. He was at 12 different bases in the US using his education well in television, engine, and radar repair with top secret access. He retired to Geneseo in 1971 with many commendations, two medals and a wealth of memories.

Tom Gray was passionate about his family, beagles, cats, 55 Chevy, Jeep truck, country music, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, gambling, reading adventure books and last but not least BOWLING! This made his 29-year retirement job at Lee’s Lanes such a pleasure. It was a sad day for him when he had to say farewell due to complications from multiple back surgeries.

He is survived by his stepdaughter Vicki (Whitham) Scogland, his grandson Thomas R.W. Scogland, his great granddaughter Kimberly and a wealth of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five sisters: Marie, Betty, Marian, Dolores and Lorraine; two brothers: Cyril and Pat.
