Lois A. Doye, 98, of Prophetstown, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo, IL. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Calvary Evangelical Church, Hooppole, IL. Pastor Zach Van Dyke will officiate. Burial will follow at Hooppole Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, at the church. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Evangelical Church, 323 Main Street, Hooppole, IL, 61258.

Lois was born near Hooppole, IL July 15, 1923, the daughter of Carl and Alice (Vandermoon) Goembel. She graduated from Annawan High School, class of 1941, and then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, in the Statistical Department, as a clerk typist from 1941 to 1945. Lois married LaVerne Doye on March 7, 1945. Lois and her husband farmed outside Hooppole from 1946 until retiring. She was a member of Calvary E.C. Church, in Hooppole, since an early age and belonged to its AMF Church Group. She was a Gold Star Mother of Hooppole’s Eshelman Talley Doye Auxiliary. The Doye name is in memory of her son Ricky Lee Doye, a Marine that died in Vietnam on May 5, 1968. Lois enjoyed homemaking, music, and letter writing to all her friends and family. She loved her children and their families and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Her three grandchildren and their families were incredibly special. The seven great-grandchildren were a joy. She also loved her pet dogs, birds, and outdoor animals.

Survivors include sons, Arlyn (Joette) Doye, Dodgeville, WI, and Larry (Judy) Doye, Hooppole, IL; grandchildren, Matthew Rick (Renee) Doye, Westfield, IN, Allison Siobhan (Steve) Cottrell, Milan, IL, and Joelle Marguerite Doye, Dodgeville, WI; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jenna, and Rebecca Doye, and Gavin, Bella, Layla and Jaxon Cottrell.

Lois was proceeded in death by her parents, Carl and Alice; her loving husband, LaVerne; son, Ricky Lee Doye; brother, Arvid Goembel; and sister-in-law, Ethel Goembel.
