Kermie was born June 18, 1931, on the farm he lived his entire life on, in Geneseo. He was born the son of Harley and Elizabeth (Detaeye) Pfaff. His father died when he was 6 so he was raised by his grandparents Fred and Albertina Pfaff. Kermie graduated from Geneseo High School in 1949 and served in the Army National Guard. He married the love of his life Jacqueline Ryker Yeargle on February 10, 1967. She survives. As a young boy he delivered newspapers before and after school just to make a nickel. He was the #1 record keeper in Chicago in the FFA and that’s what started his hard-working mentality. Kermie farmed his whole life. He drove semi for A&P Tea Company for many years and then received the million miles award for Eagle Teamsters Union before retiring in 1996. He loved to go camping, gardening, working in the yard and telling his stories. He was an avid Cubs, Illini and Green Bay Packers fan. Kermith and Jackie loved wintering in Texas. He loved life and was a fighter.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Ryker Pfaff, children; Joy (Dave) Behrens of Geneseo, Sheree Yeargle Erwin of Coal Valley, Richard (Pam) Yeargle of Moline and Jack (Julie) Yeargle of Moline, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, cousin, Nadine Swanson, special “best” friend, Tim (Penny) Hansen and his beloved dog “Suzy”.
Kermith was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and son-in-law, Chris Erwin.
