Vince was born in Moline, IL on October 2, 1965, the son of Harold and Joanne (Heydeman) Newton. He graduated from J.D. Darnall High School in 1983 and attended Black Hawk College.
He married Cindy Bauwens on September 10,1988. Vince and Cindy were married for 32 years until her passing in July 2020. They had a daughter Carlie, who is their shining light and will carry on their legacy. On January 15, 2022, he married Denise Horner, which blended the two families by expanding them with additional children, grandchildren, sister’s, brothers, and many others, including “that darn dog” (Chloe the cat). Vince and Denise settled in West Branch, IA so they are between all the kids, grandkids, and grand doggies.
He worked at Dave’s Truck and Auto Body and after sustaining an accident at work in the winter of 1983, he transitioned career paths and began working for the city of Geneseo Water Department. He worked for the City’s Water department until he retired in 2020. Throughout his 32 years of service at the city, he received many awards and praise for his dedication. He was the go-to and knew all water above ground and underground that supplied the city. Vince then worked part time in the shop for Wirth Plumbing in Geneseo.
Vince served on the Illinois Rural Water Association Board of Directors for several years most recently fulfilling the role of Vice President. He made life long cherished friendships through this position.
Vince had a fun-loving, charismatic, yet tender heart which called him to help those around him. Over the years, he volunteered with Make a Wish Foundation, Illinois/Iowa Handicap Softball League and was an Usher with St. Malachy’s Church. Through Carlie’s Liver Transplant, he found a passion for advocating for Organ Donation. The Newton family participated in six Transplant Games, rode on the Organ Donation Float in the Rose Parade and continued to volunteer with Iowa Donor Network events. Vince
will give the ultimate gift of his passion through his own donor donation, teaching, and research donation now to Iowa Donor Network.
Vince is an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and spent last year either in front of the TV as an armchair QB or at Kinnick cheering on the Hawk’s. He liked to ride his bike on the bike paths and then teaching the grandsons how to ride their bikes. He attended Coram Deo Bible Church and made many close friendships there even rekindling old friendships. Vince is survived by his loving wife Denise; caring daughter, Carlie (Colton Sanchez). He is also survived by his mother Joanne Newton, his siblings, Scott Newton, Kara Barnes, and Eric (Katharina) Newton. Denise's siblings; Kathy (Ken) Simmons, Scott
(Tara) Smith, and Shari Kenworthy. Bonus children; Jared (Mandy) Horner, Erica (Horner) Riley, and Trey Horner. Vince also enjoyed playing with the beautiful grandchildren that were brought into his life, Kendyl, Hudson, Hendrix Horner, Jet Riley, and Malani Lynn Horner.
