Dixie Lee (Owens) Anderson, Geneseo, IL, born May 19, 1939, to Vern and Georgia (Cobb) Owens. She grew up with two brothers on a farm near Mt. Union, Iowa. She graduated from Winfield High School and attended Burlington Business School. She then worked for some doctors and part time at Howard Jewelry in Geneseo.

She died November 12, 2022, at Betty’s Garden Memory Care in Kewanee, IL. A memorial service will be 10:30 on Monday, November 21 at Grace United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Vandemore Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dixie married Terry E Anderson June 25, 1961, at Winfield Methodist Church. They lived in Dubuque, East Moline, and Geneseo. She was an extremely devoted mother and wife who followed her parents’ tradition of proud dedicated involvement in her children’s activities and lives.

Dixie had a very caring heart and loved to help family, friends, and anyone in need. She served on several committees and mission work trips with Grace United Methodist Church. She also volunteered for Alternatives for the Older Adult. She loved cooking and baking for family and church friends, family games and sports, gardening, and flowers.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jacob. Survivors include Terry, her brothers Larry (Sharon) Owens, Fort Dodge, IA, and Max (Janet) Owens, Burlington, IA; their three children, nine grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren:

Joylyn (Randy “Max”) Weibel, Poplar Grove, IL - children: Ashley (Riley) Jenkins, Courtney (Jim) Ludois, and Jacob (deceased); 4 great-grandchildren Owen, Dylan, Quinn, and Sam.

Wayne (Lisa) Anderson, Charlotte, NC - children: Tyler, Molly (Zack) Forney

Keith Anderson, Springfield, IL - children: Kiersten (Devon) Still, Cara, Adam, Eli and Ethan.

In lieu of flowers, recommended memorials are to Grace United Methodist Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
