Mildred I. “Millie” Peck, 91, of Galva, died at 8:11 AM Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10 at Rux Funeral Home with Galva with Pastor Rebecca Gearhart officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, December 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
She was born February 19, 1931 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of G. Harold and Mabel (Ischer) Browne. She married Robert D. “Bob” Peck on November 23, 1952 in Berwick, IL and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two brothers. Survivors include her two sons, Dennis (Christine) Peck of Geneseo and Marv Peck of Bishop Hill, five grandchildren, Gregory, Bradley, Olivia, Carlisle and Emma and nine great grandchildren.
Millie graduated from Abingdon High School in 1949. She had worked as a secretary at F.U. White School in Galva. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galva and had been active in several of the church circles. She was a Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer and an election judge in Bishop Hill and had also been an American Cancer Society Drive Collector and been named Galva’s Volunteer of the Year in 2008. She enjoyed her dogs, golfing and especially her family.
