Carol R. Clark, of Geneseo, passed away at home on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no visitation or service. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting with arrangements. A private inurnment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to the Carol Clark Memorial Fund which will then be designated for pediatric care at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL to honor Carol’s daughter, Rebecca, who was employed by the hospital for 36 years before her death in 2013.
Carol was born September 8, 1934, to Jacob and Edna (Stahl) Huizenga, in Hooppole, IL. She attended Geneseo schools. She married and later divorced Wallace A. Clark. Together they had four children – Rebecca, Linda, Francie, and Matt.
Carol was a stay-at-home mom before beginning her years of bartending, first at the Eagle’s Club, Geneseo, and then the Deck Plaza, Geneseo. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed writing letters to family and friends, walking, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles, and adult coloring books. She loved to decorate for the holidays.
Surviving are her brother, Delbert “Huey” Huizenga of Virginia; daughters, Linda Clark, Francie Clark (Larry O’Neil) and a son, Matthew Clark (Michelle Boerst); three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Edna Huizenga; a brother, Bernie Huizenga; sister-in-law, Phyllis Huizenga; daughter, Rebecca Clark; and son, Brion Huizenga.
