Ruth Mason

Ruth Mason, 91, a resident at Manor Court of Rochelle, formerly of Kewanee, died at 7:25 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023 at Manor Court.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Mara Ahles-Iverson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Wethersfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle.

She was born February 26, 1932 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Harland) Norberg. She married Robert “Bob” Mason on November 19, 1949 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Douglas) Fyke of Lee, IL, Marie Kay (Charles) Golt of Esmond, IL, and Teresa (Peter) Dean of Melbourne Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Danielle Foster, Erin Rockstead and Megan Golt-Backer, two step grandchildren, Amanda Dean and Nicole Dean, six great grandchildren, a sister, Betty German and three brothers, Roger, David and Merl Norberg.

Ruth graduated from Wethersfield High School. She had worked as a hairdresser for Harvey Salon and had also worked at an insurance agency. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle. Ruth enjoyed sewing and baking. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and her cats.
