Geneva Ruth Amans, known as Ruth to her family and friends, passed away peacefully in her home in Bettendorf, Iowa, on March 1, 2023. Ruth had recently celebrated her 90th birthday with a big party at her favorite restaurant. She was born in Columbia, Tennessee, to Hazel and Clay Kerr, and was a southern belle to the end. Ruth was married for 53 years to Richard Amans till his death in 2005. She is survived by their five children. Geneva Dierbeck (Joe), Richard Amans, Jr. (Ane), Robert Amans (Valerie), Julia Sangston (Rick) and Deron Amans, along with her 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and brother Paul Kerr. Ruth went back to school later in life where she earned her certification as a dental hygienist and worked for over a decade in that field. She was a very talented gardener who took great pride in her pretty yard. She was also an excellent seamstress, artist, and dearly loved doing crafts of all kinds throughout her adult life. Ruth was the dancing queen of her generation. She and her husband loved to dance together and were a handsome couple on the dance floor. Ruth was such a colorful, fun person. Everyone loved her sense of humor.

She and Richard retired to Florida and had many good years before Richard's death. After that, she moved back home to be closer to her children. In the ensuing years, she joined the Red Hatters organization and took a fabulous trip to London with her group. While there, she got to ride on a double-decker bus which she especially loved. She also traveled to Italy twice. But one of the best times of her life was an incredible vacation to South Africa where, at the age of 85, she rode on a camel. What she enjoyed even more than the camel was riding dune buggies in the desert sands and, when given the choice, said, "I want to go on the fast one!" That was Ruth. We will all miss her so very much.

Ruth will be laid to rest with Richard at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
