Margaret Ann Shanks

Margaret Ann Shanks, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died at her home on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born in Geneseo, Illinois on November 12, 1942, the daughter of Frederick and Ermyl (Klock) DePauw. On June 24, 1967, she was united in marriage to Norris D. Shanks in Geneseo. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2013.

Margaret was a devoted homemaker, wife, mom & grandma who also babysat in her home for many years. She loved her family dearly and had a soft place in her heart for animals. In her spare time, she loved to do crafts and enjoyed playing cards with her many friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Jenny Terronez of Bettendorf and Melanie (Steve) King of Marathon, Florida; her grandchildren, Kaleb, Izaak, Ronin, Olivia, Payton and Joe; her sisters, Jeannene (DePauw) Tournear of Atkinson, Illinois and Mary (DePauw) (Roger) Miller of Geneseo; and her brother, Dean (Diane) DePauw of Geneseo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Ricky Shanks; and her brother, Clifford "Kip" DePauw.
