Scott Porter

Scott Arthur Porter, 51, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA. A Celebration of Life memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Please dress casually per the family’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics MICU, 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, IA, 52242.

Scott was born September 16, 1971, the son of Robert and Joyce (Busch) Porter in Moline, IL. He graduated from JD Darnall High School, class of 1990, and went on to obtain a BA from the University of Iowa and a master’s from Western Illinois University. He was a teacher for the Dixon School District for over twenty-four years. He enjoyed working out, photography – especially high school sports, and bike riding. Being a proud Geneseo alumni, Scott was a huge supporter of Geneseo sports. He also faithfully supported the Dixon sports program.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Jordan Porter of Geneseo; father, Robert A. Porter of Geneseo; brother, Andy (Chris) Porter of Ooltewah, TN; and nephew, Ryan Porter of Ooltewah, TN.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Porter.
