Sharon Kay (Waller) Casteel

Sharon Kay (Waller) Casteel, of Cambridge, IL, passed away on August 12, 2020, at OSF – St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Per the wishes of the decedent and the family, no services will be held. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family with their final arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Cambridge Fire Department, St. Jude’s, and Cambridge FFA.

Sharon was born on November 21, 1939, daughter of Curtis and Harriett (Campbell) Waller, in Geneseo. She graduated from Geneseo High School. On November 11, 1961, she married Dale J. Casteel. He preceded her in death. Sharon was a proud wife, mother, and housewife. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, cooking, and baking – especially rhubarb. She loved taking care of animals and offered a wildlife and rehabilitation at the farm.

She enjoyed her friends at the Minneapolis – Moline Collectors Club and Prairie Gold Rush Club. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Clayton (Jodi) Casteel, Cambridge, Matt (Debbie) Casteel, Atkinson, and Jason (Anna) Casteel, Cambridge; grandchildren, Katie (John) Johnston, Amanda (Brandon) Beam, Jessica (Ryan) Akers, Jenna Casteel, Samantha Casteel (Eric Lindsey), and Madison M. Casteel; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Johnston, Caylee and Colton Beam, Amelia Akers, Molly Battin, and Aiden Lindsey.

She was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Harriett, her husband Dale, sisters, Donna Anderson and Cassandra Kluever, brother Brian Waller, sisters-in-law, Charlotte King and Maxine Moore, and brother-in-law Gale Casteel.

The family would like to thank Kewanee Care and OSF – St. Francis Medical Center for their loving support to Sharon.
