Dianne was born on December 30, 1940 of Samuel and Dorothy (Keilman) Carson, in Monmouth, IL. After high school graduation, Dianne attended Western Illinois University. She married Roger Peterson on September 5, 1959. She was an executive secretary for attorneys in Mercer and Henry counties in Illinois as well as owner of quilting, fabric, and notions store, Quilt Quarters, in Geneseo until 1999.
She was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church both in New Windsor and Geneseo, IL – frequently participating in services as a greeter and lector. Dianne adored spending time with family and friends as well as most anything mystery – be it a novel, a movie, or television program. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting, antiques and collecting, cooking, and travel. And of course, a marvelous joke or two.
She is survived by her daughters Angie (Adrian) Graber and Michelle (Lisa Finch) Woods; and sons, Garth (Beth) Peterson and Erik Peterson; and grandchildren, Chastity (Rick) Sletten, Käjsa (Vern) Wilson, Travis Graber, Nick (Kiley) Graber, and Avery Finch; three great-grandchildren; and bothers Richard “Dick” (Gladys “Shy”) Carson and Dudley Carson.
She was a vibrant, sharp-witted, incisive, and beautiful woman and will be missed by so many.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, her parents and son, Gregory.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Compassus Hospice Care, to Dianne’s quilting group, the Sew & Sews, with whom she shared so many wonderful memories for over 25 years, and a very special loving thanks to the Ray and Jean Swanson family for the humor, joy, care, and love that they shared with Dianne for so very long.
