Roger L Johnson, 78, of Moline, formerly of Orion, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at his residence.

Private family services will be held. A livestream service will be available at on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 1pm. Public visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Esterdahl Mortuary, 1301 4th St Orion, IL 61273. Burial will be at Swedona Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Swedona Lutheran Church. In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.

Roger was born on May 4, 1942 in Moline, the son of Leslie and Helen (Miller) Johnson. He married Donna R Smith on June 21, 1964 in Cambridge, IL. Roger was an active lifetime member at Swedona Lutheran Church. He served as a former council member and as Sunday School superintendent. Roger was involved in the church’s ice cream social. He also sang in the choir. Roger was employed with Modern Woodmen for 42 years and was a member of their retirement group as well as the Modern Woodmen men’s group breakfast.

Survivors include his wife, children, Teresa (Joel) Martens, Charlotte, IA, Leanne Johnson (Rick Windisch), Orion; grandchildren, Alicia (Mike) Parr, Orion, Julianne (Brian) Kerr, Moline, Dylan (Lisa) Beemblossom, Little Rock, AR, Elizabeth “Betsy” Beemblossom (Danny Larsen), Orion; great grandchildren, Tegan, Noah, Connor, Olivia, and Duncan; twin brother, Rolland L Johnson, Sherrard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Linda Johnson.
