Nellie Wilma (Keag) Wright, 93, longtime resident of Geneseo, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Woodridge Assisted Living, Geneseo. Visitation will be held Saturday March 20, 2021, from 2-4 at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory - Geneseo Chapel. Graveside services will be at Oakwood Cemetery, in Geneseo, at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Henry County Humane Society - Geneseo. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Nellie was born on December 28, 1927, in Atkinson, IL the daughter of William and Marion (Ward) Keag. She was the youngest of three daughters: sisters Jane (Keag) Kruse and Norma (Keag) Lodge. Nellie graduated high school in 1945 and she worked at the Geneseo Republic after graduation. On December 28, 1947, she married her longtime sweetheart Joe Wright. Nellie worked alongside Joe in the management and operation of the Wright Funeral Home in Geneseo from 1955 until 1985 when they retired. She was also the activity director at Wright’s Nursing Home for seven years

Nellie was a member of the Presbyterian Church for 83 years, 1938-2021. She served as Elder, Deacon, and Moderator of Presbyterian Women. In addition, she served as President of Geneseo Business and Professional Women and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Throughout her life she was active in the community leading Girl Scouts, coaching softball, and supporting her children and grandchildren in their interests. She worked in the school cafeteria and served on many committees. Nellie was an avid golfer and belonged to the Geneseo Country Club for many years. She and Joe like to travel and realized a lifelong desire to visit Alaska and England.

Nellie is survived by her sister, Norma Lodge of Geneseo, daughters Linda (Bruce) Wrightwood of Florida, Carol (Kent) Johnson of Geneseo; Son Audie (Laurie) Wright of Geneseo; Grandchildren Kurt (Jill) Hutchinson, Tony (Gabriella) Hutchinson, Kelsey (John) Bialek, and Abby Johnson; Great grandchildren Madeline, Emma, Jack, and Samuel.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe, sister Jane Kruse of Hampton, and daughter Diane Wright.
