The Lady Leafs girls' bowling team made school history advancing to sectionals as a team.

The Lady Leafs girls’ bowling team closed out their dual meet season, competed in the Dixon Invitational and earned a sectional berth. 

Dixon Invitational 

The Lady Leafs’ Rachel Clementz led the way for the Geneseo with a six-game series of 1082 at Dixon Plum Hollow Jan. 28. 

GHS’ Katelynn Bowton wasn’t far behind with a 1039 series, and Camarie Meuller rolled to a 1008 series. 

The Lady Leafs’ Emily Pobanz finished with a 991 series, and Mackenzie Bowton tallied a series of 896.  

Geneseo finished 17th as a team in the 22-team field. 

Geneseo at Oregon

Pobanz put together a solid 523 three-game series, but Geneseo fell against Oregon 3221-2675 on Jan. 31.

Clementz rolled her way to a 491 series, and Mackenzie Bowton finished with a 455 series. 

Katelynn Bowton tallied a series of 436, and Emma Kass finished with a 404.

Muller rolled a 386 three-game series to finish out the varsity scores. 

Karis Ostrowski led the JV scores with a 367 series, and Grace Moore tallied a 367 series. 

NIB 12 Conference Meet

The Leafs’ Clementz and Katelynn Bowton medaled, and the Geneseo team finished eighth in at the meet among 10 teams at the Sycamore 4 Seasons Bowling Center on Feb. 2.

Individually, the Leafs’ Katelynn Bowton was 14th with a six-game series of 1021, and Clementz finished 15th with a 1017 series. 

Meuller earned 37th place with an 889 series, and Mackenzie Bowton finished with an 854 series.

In four games, Kass rolled a 551 series, and Moore bowled a 525 series in four games. 

Ostrowski rounded out the individual scores with a 426 four-game series.     

Sycamore was the meet champion and won the overall conference title based on their regular season record.

In Geneseo’s first year of team competition, the Leafs did not have a full dual meet schedule and didn’t factor into the overall conference race. 

United Township Regional

The Leafs rallied to earned the team’s first sectional berth in school history at the United Township Regional held at the Highland Park Bowl in Moline on Feb. 4. 

Down to their final game, Geneseo had its best team game of the day tallying 880 pins to vault Abingdon and LaSalle-Peru for the final qualifying spot. 

Lady Leafs’ team total of 4725 scored them a ticket to the LaSalle-Peru Sectional on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl, in Peru starting at 9 a.m.

The Lady Leafs’ Clementz had the team’s best six-game series with a 1051 series. 

GHS’ Mackenzie Bowton rolled a 1005 series, and Katelynn Bowton finished with a 892 series. 

Meuller tallied a 874 series, and Pobanz finished with a 474 series in three games. 

In a pair of games, Kass finished with a 294 series.  

United Township won the regional title (5725), and Rock Island’s Lynzee Quade won the individual crown with a 1232 series.
