The Lady Leafs put together a fourth-place team finish with 11 top six finishers among 10 teams at the Westwood Sports Complex in Sterling on March 18.

Geneseo’s Erika Furbeck defended her NIB 12 indoor conference crown winning the long jump for the third consecutive season.

The Leafs’ Furbeck set a new conference record with a mark of 18’5.5” to win the title.

A runner-up in the long jump at state last season, Furbeck won the event with a mark of 16’3.5” at the conference indoor meet last season.

A junior, Rebekah Beard had an outstanding performance winning the triple jump with a mark of 33’6.25”.

The Leafs’ Reece Bodeen won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.65, and Geneseo’s Madison Munoz finished third in 10.3.

Furbeck added a third-place finish in the 60 dash in 8.0, and Josie Brown finished the 800 run in fourth place in 2:28.1.

Geneseo’s distance crew of Anna Girten, Anna Pierce, Claire Hall and Veronica Eilers came in fourth in the 4x800 relay with a time of 11:22.0.

The Lady Leafs’ Julia Poel, Beard, Diana Scherer and Brown raced to a fifth-place time of 4:25.7 in the 4x400 relay.

Geneseo’s Alexys Johnson tied for fifth in the pole vault clearing 7’6”, and RaeLynn Versluys came in sixth in the 400 dash in 1:06.2.

Bodeen added a sixth place finish in the 200 dash in 28.43.

Geneseo’s 4x200 relay team of Beard, Isabel Sierra, Alex Horne and Poel raced to a seventh-place time of 1:57.8.

Morgan May finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 29’10”.

The Leafs’ Horne and Dani Clary each cleared 4’8” to tie for 10th in the high jump.

The Leafs will compete against some of the best in the state at the Illinois Top Times meet at the University Shirk Center in Bloomington starting at 8 a.m.
