The Maple Leafs won the 4x400-meter relay and the 4x800 relay at the Westwood Sports Complex in Sterling on March 18.

Geneseo’s 4x400 relay team of Nick Swartzendruber, Cayson Frerichs, Nathan Soria and Reed Vanderheyden set a new NIB 12 indoor record finishing in 3:32.6.

With Swartzendruber, Andrew Benhart, Soria and Frerichs handling the 4x800 relay, Geneseo nabbed another win (8:21.0) finishing more than three seconds before the competition.

The Leafs’ Vanderheyden was a tenth of a second from the NIB 12 record in the 60 hurdles.

Vanderheyden won the hurdles in 8.57, and Colton Pischke came in third with a time of 8.65.

Vanderheyden won the 400 dash crown in 52.87, and Geneseo’s Swartzendruber was runner-up in the 400 with a time of 52.97.

The Leafs’ Blake Duncan raced to a fifth place finish in the 3200 run (10:17.7), and Sam Thomas launched a fifth place throw 45’1” in the shot put.

Geneseo’s Colton Pischke, Logan Weber, Jordan Seeley and Ben Cosgrave combined for a fifth-place finish in the 4x200 relay in 1:38.2.

The Leafs’ Benhart raced to a sixth-place time of 4:46.9 in the 1600 run, and Kyle Sellers grabbed a seventh-place finish in the 800 run (2:06.7).

Colton Pischke ran down seventh in the 60 dash (7.44), and Andrew Pischke grabbed eighth in the 7.52.

The Maple Leafs’ Andrew Pischke continued his comeback from a hip injury with an eighth place time of 24.37 in the 200 dash.

Jacob Verplaetse cleared a height of 11’6” in the pole vault for seventh place, and Raymond Venneberg finished eighth in the pole vault clearing 11’.

Ryver Griffin sprang to a seventh place spot in the triple jump (39’2.5”), and Cosgrave finished eighth in the long jump 19’8.25”.

Nathan Lambert tied for ninth in the high jump clearing 5’4”.

The Maple Leafs will compete against some of the best teams in the state at the Illinois Top Times meet at the University Shirk Center in Bloomington starting at 8 a.m.
