After finishing runner-up the past two years, the Geneseo girls’ bowling team won the GHS Holiday Invite for the first time in school history.

Geneseo won the team competition with a 5448 team total, holding off Rock Island by 133 pins for the title at Lee’s Lanes on Dec. 28.

Geneseo’s Karis Ostrowski rolled a team-high 1149 six-game series to finish third individually behind champion Heather Motley from Rock Island.

A junior, Karis rolled three games of 200 or above with the eighth best individual game of the invite (225).

The Lady Leafs’ Emily Pobanz finished fourth individually with an 1146 series, and she rolled three games eclipsing 200 and had the seventh best game of the invite with a 226.

Geneseo’s Jenah Hart finished seventh individually with a 1084 series, and Delaney Ostrowski wasn’t far behind with a 1052 series.

A freshman, Madison Holevoet rolled her way to a 1017 series for Geneseo.

In the JV competition, Geneseo’s split JV teams earned the title and finished third among a nine-team field.

The Lady Leafs’ Breann Keller won the individual JV title with a 1024 six-game series, and she finished with the best JV single game with a 211.

Geneseo’s Adi Hernandez-Nesbitt tallied a 987 series to earn a third-place finish, and Miranda Roemer nabbed a sixth-place finish with an 888 series.

The Leafs’ Mary Thomas earned seventh with an 866 series, and Emma Kass landed eighth with an 858 series.

GHS’ Brooke Sproston finished ninth with an 852 series, and Grace Moore tallied a 780 series.

The Leafs’ Emily Henson wasn’t far behind with a 753 series, and Olivia Mosbarger finished with a 739 series.

Geneseo’s Molly McGill rolled her way to a 632 series.

The Lady Leafs’ next tournament will be at the Buccaneer Invite held at the Cherry Bowl in Rockford on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 9 a.m.
