The Geneseo girls’ track team had record-setting and breakout performances highlight the Sterling Gold Medal Invite at Westwood Sports Complex in Sterling on March 2.

Geneseo’s Abby Reakes cleared a PR height of 5’3” in the high jump to claim a runner-up finish in Sterling.

A state qualifier during her freshman season, Reakes cleared a jump of 5’2” last season at sectionals which was the fifth best sectional height going into the state meet.

A senior, Geneseo’s Alexandria Horne had a big day clearing 5’ in the high jump, she won the 200-meter dash in 28.24, and she finished fifth in the 60 in 8.54.

The Lady Leafs’ Julia Poel, Ali Rapps, Alison Bowers and Josie Brown teamed up to win the 4x400 relay in 4:21.97.

Rapps and Bowers have already proved they belong during their freshmen season.

Rapps had a breakout day winning the 60 hurdles in 9.74, and Bowers won the 60 hurdles in 8.27.

The Lady Leafs’ 4x800-relay team of Lauren Belvel, Anna Girten, Esther Brown and Julia Poel finished runner-up in 10:46.52.

After finishing basketball season, Josie Brown finished runner-up in the 800 in 2:34.21 in her first race of the season.

A senior, Brown was an AAU National Jr. Olympics All-American on the track in the 1500, and she finished ninth at nationals in the 800.

Geneseo’s Alexys Johnson cleared 9’ in the pole vault for a runner-up finish, and the Leafs’ Hannah Rakestraw finished third clearing 9’.

Belvel ran down second place in the 1600 in 6:09.04, and Girten finished seventh in the 1600 in 6:19.24.

Savannah Reisner captured third in the 400 in 1:12.41, and Mallory Bealer finished fifth in the 400 in 1:14.50.

Geneseo’s Annie Turpin claimed third in the triple jump with a distance of 27’9.75”, and Morgan Simms finished fourth with a jump of 27’1.50”.

In the pole vault, Grace Girten earned fourth clearing a height of 7’6”, and Geneseo’s Reagan Lommell and Brynn Johnson each cleared 7’.

Reakes added a fifth-place finish in the 200 in 29.66, and Alexys Johnson was 10th in 30.76.

Gracie Erickson cleared 4’6” in the high jump to place fifth, and Miah Shoemaker cleared 4’4” in the high jump for sixth.

The Lady Leafs’ Lanie Marshall, Lommell, Grace Girten and Shoemaker finished fifth in the 4x200 relay in 2:07.32.

In the 800, Avery Magerkurth captured sixth in 2:49.86, and Megan Soria finished eighth in 3:02.09.

Triston Highton ran down sixth in the 60 hurdles in 11.26, and Adia Raya finished seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 25’11”.

Geneseo’s Anslee Plasschaert finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 27’1.5”.
