Pontiac didn’t lose a set in pasting a 9-0 whitewashing on Mendota in boys’ tennis at the Williamson Field Courts Tuesday afternoon.
PTHS went 6-0 in singles play to get things rolling. Griffin Brunner won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 and Rocco Sartoris was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 2. Clay Miller won at No. 3 by a 6-0, 6-4 margin and Garrett Brunner claimed the No. 4 match 6-2, 6-3. Ethan Finnegan was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 5 and Kyle Kuerth was pushed a bit before prevailing 7-6, 6-2 at No. 6.
The duo of Griffin Brunner and Sartoris won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Garrett Brunner and Miller teamed for a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Clay Pfeifer and Kuerth won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.
Adam Jacobs and Finnegan won 6-0, 6-0 in an exhibition match.
In junior varsity single play, Chase Broerman (8-6), Griffin Nyi (8-0), Cameron Kilgore (8-1) and Adam Verdun (8-1) were winners. Luke Morrissett and Andrew Babb won 8-4 in doubles.
