Sycamore at Geneseo

Sycamore edged the Lady Leafs for a 2-1 victory in extra innings at the JF Edwards Complex on May 3.

The Spartans’ Mia Richards doubled to drive in the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning.

Geneseo had the game-tying run reach second base, but the Leafs ended the game with a pair of strikeouts.

Anna Narup (2-2) continued to be a difference maker on the mound pitching nine innings allowing two runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Sycamore plated a run in the first inning on a leadoff home run, but Geneseo’s Mary Thomas singled to drive in Dawsyn Hartman in the fourth inning to tie the game.

The Lady Leafs’ Bailey Spindel finished with a pair of hits, and Cora Varland doubled to turn up the pressure in the bottom of the ninth.

Alleman at Geneseo

Delaney Ostrowski provided a clutch hit off the bench to help rally the Lady Leafs passed the Pioneers 7-4 at the JF Edwards Complex on May 6.

With Geneseo trailing 4-1 in the fifth inning, Geneseo’s Ostrowski singled home two runs with the bases loaded to cap a four-run frame for the Lady Leafs.

Ava Bieneman tripled to lead off the fifth inning, and Hartman followed with an RBI single and scored later on an error.

Bieneman hit an RBI triple in the sixth to drive in a run and Bailey Mitchell singled to drive in another insurance run.

Narup earned the win in relief pitching five-plus innings allowing one earned run on five hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
