The Geneseo High School bass club’s Danny Ford and Megan Miller snagged a second-place finish at the IHSA sectional fishing competition on the Mississippi River pool 13 on May 2.

The Geneseo High School bass club’s Danny Ford and Megan Miller snagged a second-place finish at the IHSA sectional fishing competition on the Mississippi River pool 13 on May 2.

Geneseo’s Ford and Miller finished with a bag weighing in at 18 pounds six ounces and finished behind only champion Moline (19 pounds two ounces).

Ford and Miller hooked the second largest fish of the day reeling in a five pounds six ounces fish which was just two ounces lighter than the biggest fish at the tournament.

Geneseo’s Zach Verbeck and Jacob Danielson finished with a bag of 10 pounds and nine ounces.

The Leafs’ Ford and Miller will compete at the IHSA State tournament beginning on Friday, May 17 at Carlyle Lake in Carlyle.

A junior, this is Ford’s second state trip. Last season, Ford and Ryan Daly finished 47th at state. Pictured are, from left: Jacob Danielson, Zach Verbeck, Megan Miller and Danny Ford.
