Bed Bath & Beyond plans to close three additional Illinois locations in 2023, according to a company-released list.

Is Bed, Bath & Beyond closing?

Some stores are closing. In September, Bed, Bath & Beyond closed 56 stores across multiple states. On Jan. 11, the company announced an additional 62 stores closing across 30 states.

The Peoria store, located at 4800 N. University St., continues to be unaffected.

The decision comes after the Associated Press reported in early September that the company had plans to close about 150 stores and cut 20% of its workforce.

Not yet, but the future looks bleak. According to USA TODAY, the business itself has much uncertainty toward the fate of Bed, Bath & Beyond, noting that the company faces "substantial doubt" about the ability to continue operation on its own.

According to MarketScreener, investment management firm Davis Selected Advisers LP is the largest Bed Bath & Beyond shareholder, reportedly owning an 18.4% stake in the company. This equates to approximately 14.813 million shares.
