Crowe opening used car dealership
Joining Crowe Ford, in Geneseo, and Crowe Auto Group, in Kewanee, will be a used car location on Route 6, in Geneseo.
The 3.5 acre site, once home to Maple Leaf Motors, will become Crowe’s used car lot starting Monday, Dec. 12.
Crowe’s primary Geneseo location, on South State Street, is landlocked and “getting a bit crowded” said George Koustas, who co-owns the company with Pat Boone.
While the new site, located west of Geneseo on Route 6, will exclusively feature used and program cars, used cars will continue to be on display at Crowe Ford, in Geneseo, and Crowe Auto Group, in Kewanee.
“We’ll still have used cars at those locations, we’re just looking to bring in more new cars (to those dealerships),” said Koustas.
The former Maple Leaf Motors site has been vacant for the past three years. Koustas said Crowe’s owners had considered other locations for their used car lot, but ultimately decided to use the Maple Leaf lot.
“We want to bring more business to Geneseo and really help the community and Henry County,” he said. “It’s amazing how much your sales tax dollars help when you buy locally. When you stay in Henry County to shop, the money stays here.”
The used car lot has space for 80 to 100 cars, and the site also includes “a nice showroom,” said Koustas.
Car sales veteran Joe Perez will manage the new facility.
Though he has 15 years of experience in the industry, he only recently joined Crowe.
“Everyone has been very nice, and I’m looking forward to meeting people in the community,” he said, adding Crowe offers a “stress free atmosphere for buying and selling cars.”
Used and program cars of all makes and models will be offered by Crowe.
“In Geneseo, we find about 50 percent of customers are looking to buy new and 50 percent want to buy used,” said Koustas. “In Kewanee, it’s about 30 percent new and 70 percent used.”
“People looking to buy a used vehicle have a little more flexibility in what they’re wanting,” said Perez.
The new Crowe site will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.
