This cake is delightful - dangerously so!

Kay Down and Judy Anderson
Kay Down and Judy Anderson offer some end-of-summer recipes and fun in their 'Cookin' with J & K' column in the Aug. 27 Galva News.

It is that time of year when gardening is not as much fun as April and weeds keep coming. Hope you have enjoyed another year of fruits and vegetables.

This is for our Swedish friends in a hurry:

Swedish Meatballs

Buy a package of Swedish meatballs already made. Thaw meatballs and make a gravy of 1 pkg. brown gravy mix. Mix according to directions and add 1 cup of sour cream for every cup of gravy. Add meatballs and heat through.

It usually takes 1 package of gravy mix for every 15 meatballs.

Using foam bathroom cleaner is better for tubs and tiles because it clings to vertical surfaces. Apply a small amount and use your sponge or cloth to spread it around. Let the solution sit a few minutes, then wipe or rinse clean. (Good Housekeeping)

There are plenty of rules for attaining success, but none of them works unless you do.

Five Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

(The most dangerous cake recipe in the world!)

8 oz. coffee mug

4 tbsp. flour

4 tbsp. sugar

4 tbsp. baking cocoa

Mix together in mug then add:

1 egg

3 tbsp. milk

3 tbsp. oil

After mixing you can add any of your favorites: Chocolate chips, nuts or both.

Finally add and mix a splash of vanilla.

Put your mug of chocolate cake mix in the microwave and cook 3 minutes on high. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed. Allow the cake to cool a little, run a knife around the outside of the cake and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT!

And why is this the most dangerous cake in the world? Because now we are only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of day!

Try it. It works!
