Levitt AMP concert series closing strong
The Levitt AMP Galva Music Series is coming on strong as it nears the finish line.
In the next to last concert in the 10-week series, the talents of blues musicians Samantha Fish and Luke Winslow-King were on full display in Wiley Park Sunday night.
And the crowd was appreciative — all 1,205 in attendance.
According to music series organizer John Taylor, Sunday night was “our biggest crowd yet.”
The music series concludes this Sunday, Aug. 5, and serves as a springboard into the fifth annual Back Road Music Festival Aug. 11 at the Galva Park District — an event that draws several thousand country music fans to town.
The final week of the Levitt AMP series features a pair of rock acts — headliner The Kris Lager Band with Calliope Musicals.
Sunday’s events begin with the vendor fair from 2 to 6 p.m.
The Galva High School marching band and choir will provide dinner entertainment from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The Galva Junior Football League will be serving a fundraising dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Following the National Anthem, 7-year-old Chloe Finch will perform several songs prior to Calliope Musicals taking the stage at 6 p.m. The Kris Lager Band follows at 7 p.m.
The rain location is Galva High School and the concert is free and open to the public. Music fans are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to the park.

Calliope Musicals
Calliope Musicals is a cheerful psychedelic party folk band from Austin, Texas.
Their high-energy live performance focuses on involving the crowd. A squad of musicians fill in their folksy roots with a mix of vibraphone, tribal drums, bass, lead guitar and explosive vocals.
The band exudes feel-good vibes that aim to swallow listeners and spit them out as happier versions of their former selves.

The Kris Lager Band
For well over a decade The Kris Lager Band has been a vehicle for Kris Lager’s unique brand of original music.
Self described as “Heavy Soul & Boogie Trance,” the Kris Lager Band doesn’t fall neatly into any one category or genre. The best way to categorize them would be “Feel Good Music” because as soon as it hits you, you just feel good.
Whether it is a funky soulful number, a groovy beat, a boogie guitar driven riff, or a tug on your heart strings ballad, a Kris Lager Band song or show has that ability to just lift you up and make you feel good every time.

Back to School donations
Music series organizers will be accepting school supply donations at Sunday night’s concert.
Anyone wishing to donate school supplies can drop them off at the information booth in Wiley Park. The donations will be forwarded to Galva Elementary School.
