Memorial Day services slated

Sr. Master Sgt. Tim Foley of Galva will be the featured speaker at the 2008 Memorial Day service held in Galva Cemetery on Monday, May 26.

Foley, who serves with the 182nd Air Lift Wing, Peoria Air National Guard, will speak from the permanent podium located at the far east side of the cemetery. The service begins at 10 a.m.

The Galva Fusiliers will offer a gunnery salute, and Taps will be performed.

The Avenue of Flags - an eye-catching display of large American flags - will be present.

The Fusiliers will also perform at three other Memorial Day services in area cemeteries. Services are:

9 a.m. - Bishop Hill

10:45 a.m. - St. John Catholic (rural Galva)

11 a.m. - LaFayette
