The Galva Senior Citizens Center held its annual meeting March 4, reviewing the past year and looking ahead.

Carolyn Ossian, center director, thanked the community for its continuous support, supporters Mike and Vicki Massie for all their help, and all the hostesses.

“I hope the community will keep it alive, as it has become a legacy in Galva,” Ossian said. “I also hope that more people will visit the center and donate time.”

The center began in 1975. Attendance has declined through the years.

The center has monthly potlucks and birthday parties, weekly bingo, 4-point pitch games, puzzles, assistance in filing for Circuit Breaker tax relief, special entertainment programs, and always has the coffee pot on for all area residents 55 and older.

Ossian said she is always open to new ideas of what seniors would like to see the center offer.

Elected to the board for two-year terms Barb and Denzil Thuline, Harold Smith, Henrietta Todd, and Susan Bridson. Elected as board officers were Ossian, chairman; Evie Hier, treasurer, and Helen Anderson, secretary.

Other board members are Charlotte Falk, Helen Anderson, Evie Hier and DeRollo Kelly.
