Q & A with . . . Dave Holmes

Staff Writer

Dave Holmes, current mayor of Woodhull and a former AlWood School District administrator, is the featured person in this week's "Q & A with . . ." feature in the Galva News.

Name: Dave Holmes

Age: 61

Occupation: retired coach, teacher and principal of AlWood schools and currently mayor of Woodhull

Resides in: Woodhull, but I played Legion baseball in Galva from 1964 to 1966. Roy Holding, editor of the Galva News and WROVA Reporter, was our coach. He had scouted many Babe Ruth League players (when we were 15) from around the area and invited us to come to Galva and play together for three years. Great experience as we traveled all over the Midwest to play games. We beat Galesburg twice during that time.

Favorite Food: fried chicken and rhubarb pie (I make my own.)

Favorite TV Shows: Smallville

Favorite Sports Teams: Cubs, Blackhawks, Bulls, Bears

One of my cherished childhood memories is: Christmas at Grandpa and Grandma Swanson’s house in Altona with all my uncles, aunts and cousins.

If I had one day to live any way I wished, I would: tell the whole world that Christ has come to give us salvation if we will just accept Him and follow Him.
