The "Odds 'n Ends About People" column in the July 2 Galva News includes tidbits about various residents in the Galva area. A few of the tidbits are:

Roger Luft of Galva preached in the June 19 and June 20 worship services of Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva as part of the church’s “Men of Faith Weekend.”


The United Church of Altona welcomed 10 new members into its congregation on May 23. New members are: Samantha Lynn Brazee, Tiffany Renee Fink, Ella Aletha Gibbons, Brendan David Henson, Kaitlin Lorene Henson, Madison Irene Brush, Jenny Lynn Gaard, Bradley Elden Goss, Bethany Kay Main and Noah Jess Murdock.


Bill Griffin filled the pulpit for the May 30 worship service at United Church of Woodhull.


Connie Thuline of Galva retired from the State of Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice on June 18, after 20 years of working for the state.

She began by working two years in the Public Aid Office in Henry County, then moved to the Child Support Division of the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Rock Island. In 1996, she began work at the Knox County Public Aid Office. After that, she worked at Henry C. Hill correctional center in Galesburg, where she was employed in the mail room, warden’s office and clinical services. At the time of her retirement, she was  a secretary in the clinical services department at IYC-Kewanee, a youth detention facility. She worked there nine years.
