Maj. Larry Johnson, a Galva native, was honored June 11 in a U.S. military retirement ceremony held at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Maj. Johnson, 44, deployed four times to Iraq and Afghanistan while at Scott Air Force Base.

During Maj. Johnson’s military career, he traveled to 33 states and 22 countries.

On Oct. 1, will retire as an O-4 Major in the U.S. Air Force.

A 1984 Galva High School graduate, Maj. Johnson has been married to his wife Deb since 1984. They have three children, Stephanie (Jared) Wexell, 24; Samantha Kay Johnson, 19, and Tyler Johnson, 17. They also have one grandson, Jayden Wexell, 13 months.
