Two attendees of the 2009 Clay and Fiber Festival in Bishop Hill take their turn at the wheel, churning out pottery of various styles. The activity is one of several that visitors to this year’s event, held Aug. 14-15, will enjoy.

Preparations are well underway for the fourth annual Bishop Hill Clay and Fiber Festival 2010 on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14 and 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

The event has something for people of all ages. Watch ceramic artists demonstrate the art of throwing on the potter’s wheel. Also, see them fire a variety of kilns such as raku, primitive pit and horse hair. Potters will also have wares for sale.

In addition to pottery, see a wide variety of fiber artists demonstrate in the Bishop Hill park. There will also be make-and-take weaving and felting projects.
