Oak Run looking forward to new, bigger clubhouse

Oak Run golfers can look forward to a new and bigger hangout later this year.
The Oak Run Public Golf Course broke ground April 8 on a new, $2.8 million clubhouse/restaurant. The facility will replace the existing clubhouse once it is completed this December, Oak Run General Manager Michael Davison said.
At 8,500 square feet, the new facility will be more than double the size of the current clubhouse, which was built in the 1970s and is about 3,000 square feet, Davison said.
"It was never built with the intention of being the clubhouse/restaurant it is now," Davison said. "It has served several purposes over the years.
"The new facility will be a wonderful addition, not only for the Oak Run community, but also for our customer base who reside in Galesburg, Peoria and surrounding small towns in the area," he added.
The new building is being built directly west of the existing clubhouse, which will remain open during construction and be demolished once the new building is completed.
The new facility will have large timber frame supports, a vaulted ceiling and a rear patio area. Guests will be greeted by a grand entrance and large stone fireplace. The building will have a rustic aesthetic, incorporating timber framing, stone, barn wood, steel and glass.
"The design theme blends nicely with the rural, recreational nature of the area, and stays true to our take on the casual menu options being offered," Davison said.
Oak Run Public Golf Course is located 15 miles east of Galesburg off County Road 12, at 1472 Knox Road 1725N, Dahinda.
