Bridget Sloan is not exactly a household name.

Unless the household is Buelah Sloan’s in Andover, or Betty Lawson’s in Orion.

Bridget is the granddaughter of Buelah Sloan and the great-niece of Betty Lawson.

The young woman from Pittsboro, Ind., is one of 10 gymnasts are competing for one of four open spots on the U.S. Olympic team.

They have been invited to the Olympic selection camp from Wednesday, July 16, through Sunday, July 20, at the Women’s National Team Training Center in Huntsville, Texas.

Already on the team are Shawn Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas. They qualified by finishing in the top two at the Olympic team trials last weekend in Philadelphia.

The Olympics begin Friday, Aug. 8, in Beijing.

By the time they end, Bridget Sloan might be a household name all over the world.
