First Baptist Church of Galva is a drop-off location for this year’s “Shoes for Orphan Souls” program, sponsored by Buckner International of Dallas, Texas.

The church will collect new shoes, socks and shoe laces July 13-20, then ship them to Buckner International for delivery to needy children in China, Guatemala, Kenya, Latvia, Peru, Romania, Russia and elsewhere.

There are several ways to help out, according to Gloria Wilson and Marlene Manning of First Baptist Church. They are:

?Donate a new pair of shoes. All types are gladly accepted, but warm shoes for teenage boys, adult sizes 1-8 are most urgently needed.

?$5 or more donated with each pair of shoes helps distribute them. Include a photo of your family and a short note to the child who will receive the shoes, if you’d like to.

?Cash donations enable BOCI to purchase new shoes and cover distribution costs.

?Tell friends and family the church is collecting these items.

Donations will be accepted at the church from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday or on Sunday mornings. Enter through the Educational Building door and leave your donation on the table in the hall.
