Lady Leafs nab first win of 2008 season

The Lady Leaf volleyball team opened the season with a win, but not before Alleman took game two and forced Geneseo to come back and win the third. Geneseo won the match, 25-19, 21-25 and 25-18 over visiting Alleman on Sept. 2.
Leading the way for the Lady Leaf defense was Jenna Mickley with six digs, followed by Hillary Lyon and Kelsey Burress each with five. Katie Lenz added three digs to the win, while Allison Hudson and Sarah Ward each came up with two. Alyssa Patterson and Nicole Adams both finished with one dig.
At the net for the Geneseo defense, Hudson led the team with three blocks, while Abby Lavine, Adams and Ward each put a stop to the Alleman attack with one block.
On the offensive attack for the Lady?Leafs, Adams led the charge with seven kills, while Ward put away six and Burress added five. Patterson and Lavine both finished the match with four kills, followed by Hudson with three, Lenz, two and Lyon, one.
Ward served up three aces to lead the squad, while Lyon, Lenz, Burress and Adams all ended the night with one service ace.
The sophomore and freshman squads were also in action Sept. 2 against Alleman. The sophomore Lady?Leafs won their first game, 25-19, but no second game score was available. The freshman team won its contest with Alleman, 25-20 and 25-14 in the A game and 25-9 and 25-14 in the B game.
