An implement bucket yanks down the south wall of the former Galva Florist building on Sept. 5, causing bricks to fly and crumbling the store’s sign. Damaged by fire in March 2007, the removal of the 318 Main Street building leaves an open space which longtime local residents aren’t used to seeing.

A longtime business building at 318 Main St., Galva, has been destroyed, following a fire which rendered it unusable.

The building, last used by the Galva Florist, was taken down last week. It was heavily damaged by fire and smoke in March 2007. Galva Florist owner Judy Hartman has since operated her business at alternate locations - first at her home and now at Dad's Pizza.

The vacant space left by the downed building leaves an open space which longtime local residents aren’t used to seeing.
