Galva Park District super rewarded for efforts
The Galva Park District Board, at its Sept. 10 meeting, voted to raise the salary of park superintendent Jack Laramore.
Laramore’s annual salary was increased from $8,500 to $10,000. It was noted he had worked as superintendent for three years with no pay increase.
The board praised Laramore for his dedication and hard work, and for saving the park district money on various projects.
Board member Laura Nordstrom distributed catalogs for new playground equipment. She will contact several representatives. The board discussed possibly hosting a fundraiser for the equipment.
Laramore reported that he had pulled the pump on the pool and taken it to Boss Machine in Hillsdale, who told him that the pump, which is 40 years old, is not repairable due to excessive corrosion and wear. The board and Laramore are now looking for a replacement.
Wiring and security cameras will be installed in the park district soon. The system is courtesy of a monetary gift from Community State Bank.
