Staff Sgt. Michele Hines adjusts the rope on the U.S., Illinois and POW-MIA flags flying over the National Guard armory in Galva on Thursday, Sept. 11. The flags were being flown at half mast in memory of the tragedies which struck our nation on that date in 2001.

The seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the U.S. passed by quietly, with local residents recalling events of that day simply through media outlets. No special services were held locally.
