Veteran minister to fill in at 3-point charge

Norman Mendell of Galesburg has been named interim pastor of ABC Parish, which consists of Bishop Hill Community United Methodist Church, United Church of Altona and Clover Chapel.  

Mr. Mendell is a veteran pastor, having served several churches in Illinois and Tennessee for 40 years before retiring in 2007. 

He replaces Judy Vidakovich,  who left to take another United Methodist pastorate in June. His first sermon will be a communion service on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Since July 1, lay speakers have filled the ABC Parish pulpits. Lay ministers will continue assisting in services weekly.
