Alleman edges out Geneseo for title
The Geneseo boys’ soccer season came to an end Oct. 24 in the IHSA regional championship against Alleman. The Pioneers won the contest by a score of 1-0.
Alleman scored the only goal of the game in the first half and Geneseo couldn’t manage to get a goal on the board.
“Well (the game) obviously didn’t go so well,” said head coach Ian Kline. “We went down by a goal early in the first half. We had opportunities, we just didn’t do it.”
Geneseo finished the game with four shots on goal and Jacob Arnold made six saves in the net. Alleman took seven shots on goal and had four saves.
Coach Kline stated he saw a little bit of both of his teams against Alleman.
“Once we were down a goal they started rushing and didn’t play our game,” said Kline. “But we were also patient and played our game at times.
“We really progressed well this season. We started off a little rough, but played well later in the season to get ready for regionals. We played well in our first regional game and played alright in the championship game, but we just didn’t finish.”
