Injured soldier returning home March 13

Spc. Aaron Carlson, 20, of Annawan who was injured in Afghanistan in January will return home March 13.

On Jan. 17, Carlson was seriously injured when a suicide vehicle born IED detonated near his post. He currently is receiving treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C., but will return to Annawan for a two week visit.

Carlson will arrive at the ?Quad City Airport in Moline at 9:35 a.m. and, from there, will be escorted home by the Patriot Guard Riders on Route 6 from the airport through Coal Valley, Geneseo and Atkinson before arriving in Annawan.

Area residents are encouraged to show support for Carlson by lining Route 6.

Those who wish to meet Carlson are asked to gather near the Annawan Community?Center on Front Street no later than 10:10 a.m.
