Fireworks flying in Friday festival
?Orion area residents will celebrate Independence Day on Friday, July 3.St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion, will serve a pork chop supper and ice cream social at 5 p.m. in The Ark.
The menu will include grilled pork chop sandwiches, baked beans, potato chips, beverages, ice cream and pie. Hot dogs will be available for children.
The Orion Community Band performance will be from 7 to 8 p.m. in the church parking lot.
At dusk the Orion Fireworks Festival will begin with a lighted parade rolling from the Orion High School parking lot west along 11th Avenue.
The parade will turn south on Eighth Street, then travel east along 12th Avenue to the high school.
After the parade, the fireworks show will be at Charger Field.
People attending the concert, parade and fireworks show are asked to bring lawn chairs.
Because the fireworks are staged from the east end of the football field, spectators will be kept back from the bleachers.
