As of Monday morning, Galva’s City Hall is located in the F.U. White Building, at 311 NW 4th Ave.

Galva City officials have moved out of the old City Hall and are now located on the west side of the former F.U. White Elementary School on the east side of Wiley Park.

The move took place Thursday and Friday of last week with city offices re-opening Monday at the new facility on Northwest Fourth Avenue.

The office’s address is 311 NW 4th Ave. The phone number remains 932-2555. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday.

A drop slot for residents to make payments on their water and sewer bills will be installed on the west side (Wiley Park side) of the 311 N.W. 4th Ave. building. Meanwhile, for about a week, payments can still made in the drop slot at the old City Hall.

Part-time summer employees moved several trailer loads of material Thursday and Friday.

New furniture was purchased for the F.U. White facility.

The city council has already held one meeting in the new facility, meeting there in June. The council will now meet monthly in the new facility. The next meeting is Monday, July 27, beginning at 6 p.m.

The old city hall at 210 Front St., which has been Galva’s City Hall since 1917, will become the home of the Galva Police Department. That move hasn’t been made yet. The fire department also located in the 210 Front St. building.

The old police station may be demolished. Its condition has been deteriorating for several years.

Other tenants in the F.U. White building are the Galva Kids First day care and the Galva Food Pantry.
