Kindergarten through fifth grade students will attend from 7:50 until 11:07 a.m.

Registration for new students will be Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the school.

Students entering C.R. Hanna for the first time must present an official, certified birth certificate at registration. Kindergarten students must be 5-years-old before Sept. 1.

Registration for all other students will take place Wednesday, Aug. 5, and Thursday, Aug. 6, at Orion Middle School. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. each day.

The kindergarten physical will be due at registration. Dental exams are required for kindergarten and second grade students by May 1, 2010. Before children can carry asthma inhalers or allergy shots with them, a form available in the school office must be filled out and signed by a physician.

Class lists will not be posted during registration. They will be available on the windows near the main entrance of the school at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7. 

All fees will be due at registration. Book fees must be paid or other arrangements made before school begins on Aug. 18.

Textbook rental will be $43 for early childhood classes and $46 for kindergarten through fifth grade.

Science and lab supplies for kindergarten through fifth grade will be $2; academic folder for first through fifth grades, $1; assignment notebook/student handbook, first through fifth grades, $4; technology fee, kindergarten through fifth grade, $10. 

Parents who ordered Back-to-School packs may pick them up during registration Aug. 5 or Aug. 6 at OMS.

Anyone not able to register Aug. 4 through Aug. 6 is asked to call the school office before then to arrange a different time.

Backpack Night is 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17. Students and parents will meet teachers.

From Wednesday, Aug. 19, through Friday, Sept. 4, classes will follow the heat schedule. School will be in session from 7:50 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. for kindergarten through fifth grade. 

Pre-kindergarten and early childhood classes will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Morning classes will be held from 8:25 to 10:55 a.m. Pre-K class will be held from 12:40 to 3:07 p.m. Pre-kindergarten and early childhood classes will be Monday through Friday. 

Sept. 8 will be the first day of the full schedule. Kindergartners through fifth graders will attend school from 8:25 a.m. to 3:07 p.m.

Orion Lions Club is providing free school supplies for students who qualify for the book fee waiver. A form requesting free supplies will be available during registration. School supplies will be distributed before school begins.

Preschoolers will be screened from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, and Thursday, Aug. 20, at C.R. Hanna. Vision and hearing will tested, as well as speech and other developmental skills.

This screening is for children who will be 3 years old or older by Sept. 1 and not yet in school.
